The Best NERF Guns for Battling Zombies & Ghouls

If your little ladies and gents are like everyone else in the modern world, they are all about zombies right now. Zombies have it all—the creepy, crawly, scary, gross-out elements that make a good horror movie monster.

These reanimated shamblers are everywhere—kids shows and Halloween movie specials, and lots-a young adult books.

As a matter of fact, your youngster is probably playing zombies vs. humans right now with their neighborhood friends. Maybe. If the weather is warm and the ghoulish mood is right.

With big, zombie-loving imaginations in mind, I concocted a short list of three of the best NERF guns 2016. From the Zombie Strike collection, these blasters are must-haves for engaging in imaginative backyard battles with the walking dead. Plus, for kids who know their horror movie monsters, these blasters are work well on ghouls, goblins, and ghosts too. Wink!

NERF Zombie Strike Doominator Blaster

Holy firepower, Rick Grimes! Thanks to The Walking Dead series, zombies have made a ferocious comeback.

The Doominator ensures those shamblers stay down the second time around.

Kiddos can use their imaginations to chase down ghoulish flesh-eaters, making their mark with 24 foam darts, launched in rapid succession from 4 flip-over barrels.

On a side note, I am lovin’ the details of this blaster. And the name is super cool, combining doom and dominate to make a new word that describes the NERF’s awesome action.

____________________________

NERF Super Soaker Zombie Strike Dreadshot Blaster

If zombie movies have taught us anything, it is that those undead fiends are relentless.

Dreadshot is a super soaker blaster, which means it pumps 24 ounces of chilly water from double barrels at creeping ghouls.

It only takes a single pump, and the water reserve is easy-peasy to refill.

Even zombies can be taken down with enough H2O firepower! Keep a water hose handy for refills.

____________________________

NERF Zombie Strike FlipFury Blaster

One of my favorites, the FlipFury is detailed to look old and slightly makeshift—like maybe it broke once or twice, then someone fixed it with duct tape and string.

Thumbs up! Very apocalypse worthy.

This blaster comes with 12 foam darts, separated into two flip-away barrels with a firepower of over 40 feet. Wowwie! Run zombies, run.

The trigger packs a wallop of fast action, making it easier to center, whack, and obliterate undead targets. Yep, those pesky monsters never stood a chance.

The Best NERF Guns from the Zombie Strike Collection

2015-2016 Best NERF Zombie Strike Blasters

I am a total advocate of everything zombie-related—and even moreso an encourager of all things NERF. Combine these two awesome elements and you have the Zombie Strike collection, which has contributed three of the best NERF guns to backyard battles this year.

Sure, when you are a kid, you are told not to whack your siblings and friends with foam darts…but what kid really listens? Ha!

These three blasters are some of the best because they encourage imaginative playtime between friends and loved ones.

The foam darts are super-soft, yet firm enough to launch long-range at intended targets. One suggestion for kids who are at a loss for an imaginative scenario is to assign zombies and zombie hunters…then let the chaos and giggling fun begin.

NERF Zombie Strike Doominator Blaster

Quick—the zombies are coming!

Prepare yourself to fight against the hordes of undead with the Doominator—a unique zombie-whacking blaster that launches 24 foam darts in rapid succession.

No reloads until your clip dries up. There are four flipping drums for quick-fire action, each containing six darts apiece, and all attached to a 3-position handle.

For smoother operation, and even a few customization tips, a handy-dandy instructions manual is included.

_________________________

NERF Zombie Strike Crossfire Bow Blaster

Okay…so I might have a problem when it comes to having too much fun prepping for an impending zombie apocalypse. Or, maybe I have watched too much Walking Dead because I would totally rock this Crossfire Bow like Daryl Dixon. Ha!

This real-working crossbow must-have is an instant NERF classic that packs a wallop with four zombie-smashing foam darts.

To operate, backyard battlers pull the string and squeeze the trigger to unleash a barrage of hardcore combat on approaching brain-eaters.

_________________________

NERF Zombie Strike Hammershot Blaster

This is one of the only NERF blasters from the Zombie Strike collection that allows battlers to customize their weapon.

Inclusive of stencils, this blaster is a ferocious, zombie-blasting machine that launches 5 Zombie Strike foam darts in rapid-fire succession. Or, you can set the Hammershot to single shots, allowing you to control where the darts go.

Think of it like a last resort weapon for when the undead are closing in.

The design is so cool. From watching tons of zombie movies and television shows, you probably know that survivors’ weapons are well-worn. This blaster mimics that apocalyptic, put-together appearance with “duct tape” around the handle and a rugged barrel.

NERF & Their Zombie Strike Collection for 2014

Nerf (or NERF – however you feel it should be capitalized) has been around for decades, and they are a tried-and-true brand that constantly pumps out awesome classics every year. Some of the originals have gotten serious upgrades to rank with their newest collections, and others have stayed the same because they are simply unsurpassably amazing.

Though, this year was a bit different for Nerf, as their new collection is all about imagining and eliminating backyard combat with the walking undead.

There Zombie Strike assortment of weaponry is beyond WOW – but there are 3 that could be considered the best NERF guns 2014.

Those 3 are –

__________________________________

NERF Zombie Strike Crossfire Bow

Where zombies are concerned – I totally place all my faith in this crossbow, at least when those zombies are imaginary. There is real crossbow action with a pull-back string and trigger fire, and a grand total of 4 firm Zombie Strike darts are included.

These are perfect for both indoor and outdoor playtime, as the darts are have a gentle composition that is non-injurious and soft on impact. In your youngster’s mind, they can easily take down the toughest of zombies with this crossbow (similar in fashion to beloved Daryl from The Walking Dead).

__________________________________

NERF Zombie Strike Slingfire Blaster

I love the composition of the Slingfire because it reminds me of old BB guns from yesteryear – the kind that were lever-action and took some strength to engage and fire, but I digress.

These blasters are unique because they include capabilities to launch 6 firm-touch, soft-impact darts, and you can separately snag a tactile rail to improve the Slingfire’s awesomeness.

For those who would rather leave lever-action elsewhere, there is a flick-ready cocking mechanism that kids can simply flip with one hand to prepare for zombie battle.

__________________________________

NERF Zombie Strike Doublestrike Blaster

My personal favorite – the Doublestrike is a unique blaster that is basically the last stand of a tried-and-true zombie hunter.

Imagine – You are down to your last ammunition when a pair of zombies ambush you from different angles. With your final 2 darts, you nail the zombies, taking them down and saving your life for another day.

The up side? These darts can be recollected and reused on more undead enemies. The compact design is easy for kids to use one-handed, and the base is wrapped to make the blaster look as if a zombie hunter has been using it awhile.

Super Soaker Point Break
NERF Super Soaker Point Break

Ideal for summer days when the heat seems to be scorching, this blaster can be filled to the brim with water to create an air-pressured weapon. The traditional pump handle can be pumped from 15 to 20 times for maximum waterpower. Or shorter pumps will give off smaller bursts of water that are a perfect distraction when kids are trying to make a getaway from their opponents. The simple trigger requires light touch to send a stream soaring up to 16 feet away.

The 2 Best Nerf Guns - Battling & Bonding

The 2 best Nerf guns have been determined based on several factors. One is safety -- for obvious reasons. Factor two being that each gun can be incorporated into a family's together time. There's nothing quite like chasing kids around the yard as they try to shoot you with soft foam, giggling the whole time. Finally, the third deciding factor is reliability. No parent wants to invest in a toy that will break after a couple of uses. Children need strong toys -- the kind that can stand up to the normal wear-and-tear of a happy and productive childhood.

There were 2 Nerf guns that met all the criteria:

1. Nerf N-Strike Nite Finder EX-3. This is one powerful foam gun! Dad doesn't stand a chance of winning against the backyard battle that will ensue when this toy is unleashed. Designed for range, this foam-shooter can be used in the daylight or the evening -- a precision point light allows kids to easily see and shoot their targets from about 25 feet away. While the suction cups won't stick to opponents, they will adhere to near glass doors or windows -- marking the spot where the battle was almost won. 3 darts accompany this toy, but back-ups can be bought in packages of 4 or more at retail outlets or online.

2. Nerf N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Dart Blaster. These Nerf guns are for the prospective snipers of the family. 25 rounds of darts are ready for rapid fire, while an ammo box features a few more rounds for quick reloads. This gun can shoot 3 darts per second at a range of 25 feet or more, depending on where the gun is used -- indoors or outdoors. Equipped with a removable tripod for accurate shooting, the term 'blaster' is used to indicate a foam-shooting reminiscent of a machine gun.
