Three Ride-On Toys that Toddlers Go Gaga For

2015-2016 Best Toddler Ride-Ons

When shopping for toddler ride-ons, it's a good idea to look for the ones that build up confidence and a sense of self and independence, while inspiring imagination and encouraging individuality.

From an expansive menu of hundreds, I have handpicked a select few that make the grade in terms of meeting the criteria for ultimate toddler happiness.

The three following picks among the best ride-on toys for toddlers are pint-size and adorable—perfect for toddlers who are just learning how to coordinate their movements. Each ride-on is also customizable with stick-on, peel-off decals that allow kiddos to showcase their unique personalities—much the same way an adult would add bumper stickers to customize and personalize their car.

Power Wheels Lil Quad

Great for kiddos who love the outdoors—this instant classic is an adorable ATV-inspired ride-on with thick and rugged wheels for all-terrain tread and traction.

The overall construction is top-notch, designed to withstand years of wear and tear, daily riding, and the usual bumps of rough-and-tumble environments. The low-sitting seat and little step make it easier for toddlers to climb on and off, while the handlebars feature little grips for easier grasping by small hands.

To go, toddlers simply have to press the push-to-start button.

Little Tikes Go and Grow Lil Rollin Giraffe Ride-On

This little giraffe is all cuteness!

Dubbed the Go and Grow, this ride-on is perfect for both indoor and outdoor riding—as long as mom says it is okay, of course.

The construction is designed to look like a sweet-faced giraffe, complete with ears and customizable spots.

The seat is low-sitting for easier on and off climbing, and the handlebars feature soft grips with miniature grooves. The wheels of this ride-on are smooth for easy rolling and oversized for optimum stability, balance, and coordination.

Radio Flyer Ride 2 Glide Ride-On and Scooter

This ride-on is a new one for me! Instead of growing with kids in an adjustable way, this ride-on becomes a scooter when kiddos are ready to advance from sitting to standing.

The seat adjusts, pulling up into a handlebar position to give kids a low-sitting deck for kick-off power.

When using the Ride 2 Glide as a classic ride-on, the handlebars are adjustable and feature a little storage compartment for drinks and on-the-go snacks.

The color is a classic Radio Flyer red and the construction is solid steel for years of long-lasting ride time and the average wear and tear.

The Three Best Ride-On Toys That Kids Will Love

2015's Best Ride-On Toys for Toddlers

Over the years, I have scoured and researched hundreds of thousands of toys in hopes of finding the very best of the best for your kiddos. This year is all about ride-ons – those that inspire confidence and creative freedom in your toddler, because those feelings are extremely important, especially at such a young age.

Giving little ones a chance to improve their coordination, increase leg strength, and gain a sense of independence, the following are must-haves that kiddos will love. They - in my opinion - are THE three best ride-on toys, perfect for keeping your youngster entertained, both indoors and outdoors, all year-around.

Prince Lionheart Wheely Bug – Bee

Oh, the love I feel for this buzzy bumblebee! This ride-on is adorable, obviously, with a couple of ball-capped antennas, and a black and yellow striped body. The design is, of course, in the fashion of a classic bumblebee, minus the wings and ouch-worthy stinger.

Available in two sizes – large or small – this buzzy bumblebee ride-on includes a rounded handlebar that connects at either end of the front base. Kids can climb on, straddling the ride-on, and then push off with their feet while holding on to the handlebar. This is a kick-starter that never stops being cute!

Step2 Pink Whisper Ride Buggy

Another favorite of mine, this adorable little car is marketed toward little ladies – hence the pink color, but I say, this is a perfect ride-on for little lads, too. Contrasting with purple accents, this ride-on features a spacious interior that toddlers can use to put their feet up and just relax.

A push handle on the back gives mom or dad control over pulling or pushing this cutie-patootie ride-on anywhere your kiddo wants to go.

VTech 3-in-1 Learning Zebra Scooter

One more of my absolute favorites – this scooter from VTech is as high-tech as it gets when it comes to toddling toddlers. Yes, it is a classic ride-on, but it also has educational elements, such as buttons, levers, and pulleys that make noise. Kids can learn how to count, say simple words, and identify letters, colors, and shapes with the simple press of one of the awesome buttons.

Additionally, the zebra shape is adorably awesome. Plus, this scooter goes from push-walker to ride-on in a few snaps. As youngsters move forward, super-cool lights illuminate the sides and front in engaging, attention-grabbing patterns and colors. This is a must-have for the tech-savvy tots of today’s world.

This ride-on might seem intimidating at first, but it's the ideal way for toddlers to learn balance and coordination when it comes to steering and movement. Powered by your boy's little feet, this motorcycle has wider wheels and a racer-like design for authenticity. Toy Story 3 Lil' Quad

Power Wheels Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 Lil' Quad

This is one cool quad! Designed to look like Buzz's spaceship, this ride-on is equipped with a 6-volt battery that allows it to take off at a comfortable speed for new racers. Driving at 2mph, it can move through tough terrain like gravel and off-road conditions, or on the smoothest surfaces. A nifty cargo rack allows your son to bring the entire Toy Story gang along and the push-button operation makes this quad a cinch to stop and go.

Spray and Rescue Fire Truck

Little Tikes Spray and Rescue Fire Truck

What little boy doesn't want to drive a fire truck? None that we know of! This miniature truck is decked out in bright red with a cartoonish face and a smiling expression. The pressurized water tank and hose actually squirts water to douse the smallest flames, while the entire truck takes less than an hour to assemble completely. The hard plastic is durable and slick, which means it's also easy to wash and will withstand the normal wear and tear of the roughest firefighter in training.
